Blue Morpho
- Blue morphos are especially eye-catching because of the iridescent wings that show mainly blue, but also purple and turquoise.
- The scales on the wings do not have any pigment, instead this is a structural colour, which causes the colour you see to change depending on the angle you look at this stunning butterfly.
- Morpho didius ♂ from the Upper Huallaga Valley in the jungles of Peru. These butterflies have a wingspan of 14-20 cm (4.5-8 in).
